ItegraL provides a service that reduces data to around 10% of that previously stored by converting your previously un-indexed, ‘dead’ backup tapes into an active archive. This includes data de-duplication and allows for rapid search and retrieval of information whilst maintaining the forensic integrity of your backups.

The cost savings of storing data on tape, compared to disk are well documented. But even though tape is now more reliable than disk for long-term data storage, the prudent Storage Manager will want to ensure that what has been written can still be read many years later.

 

ItegraL provides a service that works in your existing tape environment, automatically checking and assessing data readability on your media at pre-determined intervals and only at times of low level drive utilisation. Through automated alerting the Storage Manager will receive notifications when media are starting to fail allowing the data to be migrated to new media. The service can also be used to deliver further cost-savings through only replacing media when required, not at a pre-determined age.
